Lovely weekend at my UG& PG alma mater JIPMER - Delivered a talk on complex biliary injuries and chaired several sessions at JIPMER SURGERY UPDATE . To top it was our 25th Surgical alumni reunion with lot of nostalgic memories and bonhomie !

Ahmedabad surgeons association meet delivering talk on laparoscopic management of Rectal prolapse. Congratulations to Kaushal Anand on starting his term as President.
At ASI meet at Khammam delivering a talk on ‘Prevention and management of Post - cholecystectomy bile duct injury.’

At the prestigious Gandhi Medical College operation theater -demonstrating ‘ Artery first’ approach for whipples pancreatico-duodenectomy for pancreatic cancer.

Bid farewell to 2023 and welcomed 2024 with satisfying & varied academic engagements over the last month.

TS ASICON - 2023. Conducted safe cholecystectomy symposium and a panel discussion on dillemas in biliary diseases on Saturday. Demonstrated in live operative workshop on Sunday. Great time catching up with colleagues both senior and junior. Congratulations to Sreedhar Lingam and TSASI team for a great show.

It was a enjoyable sunday doing live demonstration of E-TEP TAR ( one of the more challenging AWR procedures ) at operative workshop conducted by Dr Praveen and team in association with Bard- Aesculap. My 6 th live demo surgery in past couple of months and it’s an addictive habit!!

HYDERABAD AWR UPDATE’ inaugural edition got off to a cracking start with jam packed hall, excellent presentations and vociferous debates from both sides (ipom vs AWR). Both the speakers and chairpersons had their say in the deliberations and am still enjoying the amazing feedback for the event. On eve of children's day the PACE hospitals conducted a pediatric liver transplant awareness program. The chief guests actor Vijay Devarakonda and and mountaineer Poorna felicitated more than a dozen of their Pediatric liver recipients with free medication and new bicycles representing a journey back to active lifestyle. A 24 hours free liver help line with senior liver specialist and ‘Hyderabad liver pancreas foundation’ an NGO with 80G tax exemption to help fund liver transplant of underprivileged children was announced on this occasional

At Telangana surgical Conference last week following AP state conference last month.. With so many years of acquaintances and friendships over the years now our local state meets feel more like family gatherings.

Pace hospitals team successfully performed a Pediatric liver transplant in an 8 yr child with allagilles syndrome - a rare genetic disorder presenting with holestatic jaundice , severe itching and liver failure. His frail condition with severe growth failure ( wt 12 kg vs expected wt of 28 kg), associated cardiac Anamoly and attenuated portal vein needing complex reconstruction provided multiple challenges. Patient discharged by 3rd week and doing well now at 2 months follow up completely free for first time in his life from itching and Jaundice with weight gain of 1 kg post op. Heartfelt gratitude for to the pace team of doctors and nurses , Dr Madhusudhan and Dr Harish for their hard work and deligence in this challenging case.more..

PACE HOSPITALS TEAM successfully performed a very challenging  emergency liver transplant  in a young mother with acute liver failure . At presentation Patient was admitted with very high jaundice (bilirubin >30 mg%) and in a coma for 2 weeks and ventilator for one week with seizures with severe brain swelling. After bringing down brain swelling and bilirubin level by plasma exchange dialysis she underwent an emergency liver transplant under high risk.  It was very gratifying to see pt completely conscious and extubated within 6 hrs after surgery and ready for a discharge to go home to  her 6 month baby in 10 days post transplant. HPB and MINIMALLY INVASIVE 6th Workshop

Department of surgical gastroenterology , HPB and minimally invasive surgery successfully conducted our 6th workshop past 12 months focussed on minimally invasive therapy for Hemmoroids. About 30 delegates young and old participated in the workshop with lively discussion in the operative workshop and inquisitive learning in the hands-on session. Had an unforgettable evening API MEET at Raipur talking about a favourite topic of mine - Managment of Hilar cholangiocarcinoma to a predominantly gastroenterology crowd. The post -talk interactive discussion on diagnostic algorithms in these difficult tumors lasted longer than the talk - a reflection of the audience interest for the topic. Enjoyable experience today with the delegates young and old at the HPB hands on skills course at Pace hospital. The workshop training included hands on training in techniques of biliary ,pancreatic anastomosis and vascular suturing on tissues after a detailed operative video session on pancreatic surgery in the morning. As a part of continued focus on surgical training Laparoscopic inguinal hernia workshop at Pace hospital was conducted yesterday. 5 procedures were demonstrated and hands on training with lively participation of 20 enthusiastic surgeons from AP and Telangana.
